During the recent visit from our son Brian and his family I gave my 3-year-old grandson Zachary a couple of Graham crackers. I didn’t want him to have too many so I intentionally gave to him a couple of the ones that were already broken into squares. That way he could have two.
Zach ate them and asked if he could have more.
Me: “I’ll give you one more, but only if you promise not to ask for any more after that.”
Zach: “Okay.”
I handed another square to him. He didn’t take it.
Zach: “A rectangle, please.”
My Beloved and I exchanged looks of awe. The three-year old had just outsmarted his Grandpa. Again. (Sigh.)
He got the twice-as-large rectangle. I got yet another dose of humility.
With Love,
Russ
